You are Not Super Woman
You are not Super Woman – and that’s a good thing. You can’t figure out how to be happy if you’re taking on all the burdens of the world. How can anyone?
Where did we learn that it was our job to save the world or the planet or our community or our children?
You don’t have to worry about global warming, terrorist attacks, the chaotic economy, or even what your neighbor’s grass looks like. If you want to save the world, just do your part and be happy. If everyone did their part and focused on their own happiness the world would not need saving. Imagine a world where everyone only had to be concerned about their own happiness. Is this selfish or brilliant? If everyone was happy, wouldn’t you want to live in that place? You don’t have to fix anything, even if you think it’s broken. When you focus your attention on that supposedly broken thing, you get frustrated or angry or just plain feel bad. Remember when you feel good, you bring more good things into your life. So picture how you’d like the “broken” thing to be (job, relationship, health, money) and focus on that. Saying yes to everybody is like your kryptonite – it sucks the energy out of you until you have nothing left for yourself. Learn to say no without feeling guilty. I’ve found that this keeps getting easier and easier as I see the rewards – more time for the things that make me happy. We all have responsibilities to take care of but it’s important to separate the “must do’s” from the “I really don’t have to do’s”. What can you delegate? What can you eliminate altogether? Forget Super Woman; be yourself.

You didn’t come here to save the world. The word does not need saving. You came here to clarify, you came here to add unto, you came here to seek joy, and you came here to experience growth, you came here to bask in freedom. ~Abraham-Hicks
