How to Manage the Signs and Symptoms of Menopause
The signs and symptoms of menopause are as diverse as the women who have them. Even if you have a whole host of symptoms, menopause doesn’t have to be a major life altering event that negatively impacts the quality of your life.
What can you do to ensure a smooth transition during this very natural physiological change in your body?
Much depends on your feelings about this transition. Are you one of those women who see menopause as an end; an end to youth, childbearing, sexuality, vitality? Or… Are you someone who is excited about the next phase of your life? Are you happy to move into this next chapter?
This is not meant to diminish the pain or discomfort that many women go through. Those symptoms are very real and can really affect your quality of life. The thing to remember is that no matter how severe your symptoms are, it is within YOUR power to eliminate them. The best way to treat your symptoms is to work with your doctor to diminish the physical impact to your body and then do your part by working on your emotional state. You have to find a way to believe that menopause is not a monster out to get you, but just a very natural part of your life. When you stop struggling against aging and accept and embrace it, your symptoms will have to subside. Do you spend a great deal of time telling your friends and family how awful menopause is or how it’s terrible to get older? Can you do a 20 minute dissertation about hot flashes and night sweats? It’s time to tell a different story and watch these signs and symptoms of menopause fade away.
