10 Self Improvement Ideas
that Really Work

There’s a plethora of self improvement ideas available these days; the trick is to find the ones that resonate with you and motivates and inspires you. There’s no magic book or program that works for everyone. You have to do a little experimenting to find something that feels good to you.

One of the best ways to be happy in midlife is to have a strong focus on your own personal development and self improvement plan. Don't settle for a life by default. This is the time to really get a handle on what it is you want and figure out how to get it. This is your opportunity to find authentic happiness.

If you don't make this a priority, who will? Self improvement doesn't mean there's something terribly wrong with you that needs to be fixed; it means you are continually willing to learn and grow and expand your horizons.

I’m a self-help kind of girl. I love hearing and learning about ways to improve my life. The beauty of living in this time in history is that information and help is so easily accessible. There’s a solution for everything and it can be found from a few strokes on your keyboard. I love that.

Over the years, I’ve read a lot of books and been through many programs, products, courses and seminars. Some were good, some not so good. Some have been life changing. I’d love to share some of these life changing self improvement ideas with you. See my favorite recommendations here for self improvement resources that can make a powerful difference in your life.

While you can’t learn how to be happy by reading a book or listening to a CD, you can gain valuable insights and knowledge that can be just the right Aha moment you’ve been looking for to get you to that happy place.

Top 10 self improvement Ideas:

  1. Read books that uplift, motivate and inspire.

  2. Pop in a self improvement CD while you're driving to work instead of listening to some mind-numbing DJ ramble on about nothing. You don’t have to find time since you have to be in the car anyway.

  3. Take classes - either online, at local colleges, or seminars all over the country. Learning is growing.

  4. Search out self improvement programs that will help you overcome resistance or cause you to think in a new positive way.

  5. Learn more about the Universal Law of Attraction -this is so life changing.

  6. Start or join a Mastermind group or a Meetup Group. Spend time learning new things or sharing uplifting practices such as meditation and yoga with like minded people near you. You become who you hang out with; so hang out with the kind of people you'd like to be.

  7. Seek out the best online communities that focus on positive empowered women.

  8. Take the time to clearly define what it is you want in life. It’s surprising how many of us don’t take the time to do this.

  9. Make yourself a priority. Remember MOJITO: Be Happy (My Only Job Is To Be Happy). Make time for yourself – NO EXCUSES. How can you expect to be happy if you don’t make it your number one priority? It’s not selfish; it’s essential.

  10. Make it fun. Be easy on yourself. Find resources that make you feel good. If it feels like a chore, don’t do it. There are too many good feeling resources available, so don’t waste your time with anything that has the opposite effect.

Not all self improvement ideas and programs are created equally. Some are better than others and what works better for me might not be a good match for you. Keep trying, though. Invest in yourself. What could be more important?

My deepest wish is for you to use this information to help you remember how to be happy. Check out my recommendations for life changing Self Improvement Resources.

No one lives long enough to learn everything they need to learn starting from scratch. To be successful, we absolutely, positively have to find people who have already paid the price to learn the things that we need to learn to achieve our goals. ~Brian Tracy
