There’s a plethora of self improvement ideas available these days; the trick is to find the ones that resonate with you and motivates and inspires you. There’s no magic book or program that works for everyone. You have to do a little experimenting to find something that feels good to you.
One of the best ways to be happy in midlife is to have a strong focus on your own personal development and self improvement plan. Don't settle for a life by default. This is the time to really get a handle on what it is you want and figure out how to get it. This is your opportunity to find authentic happiness.
If you don't make this a priority, who will? Self improvement doesn't mean there's something terribly wrong with you that needs to be fixed; it means you are continually willing to learn and grow and expand your horizons.
I’m a self-help kind of girl. I love hearing and learning about ways to improve my life. The beauty of living in this time in history is that information and help is so easily accessible. There’s a solution for everything and it can be found from a few strokes on your keyboard. I love that.
Over the years, I’ve read a lot of books and been through many programs, products, courses and seminars. Some were good, some not so good. Some have been life changing. While you can’t learn how to be happy by reading a book or listening to a CD, you can gain valuable insights and knowledge that can be just the right Aha moment you’ve been looking for to get you to that happy place.
Not all self improvement ideas and programs are created equally. Some are better than others and what works better for me might not be a good match for you. Keep trying, though. Invest in yourself. What could be more important?
