Use Self Hypnosis Techniques
To learn how to be happy, healthy and relaxed
Several years ago self hypnosis techniques were considered something way out there. Remember when hypnosis conjured images of people quacking like a duck or barking like a dog? Today hypnosis is so mainstream that it’s taught in many medical schools.
Why? What can self hypnosis techniques teach us about how to be happy? Hypnosis uses self suggestion to help us clear fears, anxieties, and bad habits from our subconscious mind so we can rid ourselves of limiting behaviors that we can’t seem to banish with our conscious minds. Anyone who meditates will find that it is a very similar process to self hypnosis. During meditation there is a release of all thought which brings a huge sense of relief. In hypnosis, you start in a meditative state and then add a suggestion to help guide your mind to a desired goal. Self hypnosis techniques can help with any chronic patterns of thought or behavior you want to change like losing weight, quitting smoking, or stopping negative thoughts. It can also be beneficial for various circumstances or events that you need particular help with such as gaining confidence for a job interview, overcoming fear of flying before a trip, or relaxing before an upcoming exam. Here are some easy self hypnosis techniques that can be done anytime or anywhere for powerful results. 3 Easy Ways to Hypnotize Yourself:1. Listen to guided self hypnosis downloads or CDs : This is the easiest of the self hypnosis techniques, especially when you’re just learning about hypnosis. You put yourself into a relaxing state and then you just listen to suggestions that guide you toward your desired goal. This is so easy and so effective for changing habits of thought or behavior that are limiting you in any way. You can pick from hundreds of self hypnosis downloads here; anything from how to quit smoking to dealing with pain.
2. Using an affirmation or mantra with your deep breathing:- Decide on your goal or desired behavior change for the hypnosis session
- Find a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed
- Choose a positive affirmation about your goal. For instance, if you want to quit eating junk food you could choose “I love eating healthy foods that make me feel great.” Keep it positive; avoid statements like I don’t want to be fat anymore or I want to stop eating the wrong foods.
- Take several deep relaxation breaths until your whole mind and body feels calm. Breathe in for a count of 6; hold your breath for a count of 3, then breathe out for a count of 6.
- Once you feel very relaxed, incorporate your affirmation on your next intake breath. Breathe in slowly and say your affirmation (out loud or silently), then breathe out slowly. Do this 15 to 20 times
- Repeat this daily for 2 or 3 weeks for best results and then periodically if needed.
3. Using visualization with your breathing:- Find a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed
- Decide on a one word or one sentence mantra – what is your intention?
- Close your eyes
- Breathe deeply and slowly until you feel calm and relaxed
- Visualize relaxing every part of your body – start with your eyes, then relax your neck, shoulders, arms, hands, chest, stomach, hips, legs, feet, and toes. Focus your attention on relaxing every part of your body.
- Once you are relaxed, say your mantra while breathing in and then let out a long releasing breath.
- Repeat this 10 – 12 times, visualizing your goal or intention when you take the long breath saying your mantra.
- Use all your senses to feel how it would be to actually achieve your goal.
- Once you’ve actually felt how it would feel to achieve your goal, you are ready to come out of hypnosis
- Count backwards slowly from 5 to 1, repeating your mantra at each count
- Open your eyes; you're done
- Repeat several times for optimal results
Just sit back, relax, and learn how to change your patterns of thought or behavior easily and effectively.
