If you feel joyful, hopeful, energetic, enthusiastic, passionate, or optimistic your self talk is on the right path. Your emotions are the best way to determine whether your self talk will manifest into something you want or not. Your feelings let you know what you’ve been thinking and are the perfect tool for letting you know if your thoughts are on track or need some adjustment.

So the next time you feel like beating yourself up because of the way you’re feeling, stop and express some gratitude that you have been given this wonderful ability to use your emotions to guide you toward the better path.

  1. When you find yourself focusing on anything you don’t want, stop and go immediately to your happy triggers.

  2. Consciously focus on the things in your life you can appreciate.

  3. Don’t try to go from despair to joy in this moment. Take small steps that make you feel a little better. It may take an hour or it may take a month. Just consciously think about something that makes you feel better right now.

  4. Don’t judge. We tend to label everything as good or bad. Think about how many times we are wrong. Separate facts from your interpretations of these facts.
