Natural ways to reduce menopause symptoms

When I started experiencing menopausal symptoms I did a lot of research looking for natural ways to eliminate or minimize my symptoms. I read books written by Dr. Christiane Northrup. Specifically The Wisdom of Menopause and applied her suggestions.
I made changes to my diet and began exercising regularly, walking, yoga, strength training. I cut down on my intake of beverages and foods containing caffeine. I also stopped drinking alcohol since I noticed that I would experience hot flashes immediately after having wine or a mixed drink.
I started taking the herbal supplement Black Cohosh and after several weeks I no longer had hot flashes. For my insomnia I massaged a small amount of natural progesterone cream on my skin consistently in the evenings before going to bed and found that I was able to sleep much better through the night.
Another benefit my husband noticed is that I no longer displayed severe mood swings. So it was a combination of these things that helped me get through menopause.
