Do you Understand the Importance of Diversity?
It's Crucial for Your Personal Growth & Happiness
Most people understand the importance of diversity on a global, political, or social level, but may not understand how vital diversity is on a personal individual level.
Diversity can mean many things, but in this context, the definition of diversity is recognition and appreciation of the variety of characteristics that makes EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING in the universe original and special. It’s the abundance of unique people, cultures, geographical locations, religions, races, ages, educational backgrounds, styles, preferences, and lifestyles that make up this beautiful world. It is nice to be with people who share your views and values, but if you are not willing to also be with those whose views and values differ from yours you are doing yourself a disservice. I know it feels safe and comfortable to hang out with people who think just like you, but life is so much richer when we open ourselves up to new people, places and things. Don’t ever limit yourself. Open yourself up to new ideas and experiences. We think we want everyone to agree with us and have the same beliefs, but would we truly want that? Just think for a moment of what it would really be like if everyone thought the same exact way and wore the same clothes and ate the same food. What would be our motivation to learn, grow, invent, or even prosper? Where would our adventure or stimulation come from? The importance of diversity is so vital to our world and to us as individuals. Celebrate your uniqueness and the uniqueness of the world around you. Watch what happens just by taking small steps: -Try new foods -Listen to new music -Visit remote places -Talk to interesting people -Learn something completely new -Do anything out of your comfort zone
Imagine a world where all automobiles are the same. The same model, same color. Imagine all food tasting the same. Or all colors being exactly alike. Sameness does not bring safety, it brings boredom and stagnation. ~Abraham-Hicks
