Changing Habits is the Key to Happiness and Wellbeing
But why is it so hard?
We all know that changing habits can be very difficult; but do you know why?
Did you know that we function consciously only about 5% of the time? 95% of all learning, behavior and change is done unconsciously. Since the majority of our life is created unconsciously on autopilot, why not learn how to get your life on track automatically by learning and creating new habits of thought and behavior? By the time we reach midlife we’ve picked up all kinds of beliefs and patterns of thought that don’t necessarily manifest into the kind of life we want. Those habits we’ve learned since childhood are so ingrained that we don’t even realize it anymore. The good news is that we can change these routines, thoughts, and behaviors and cultivate new habits that help us lead more fulfilling happier lives. It’s never too late for changing habits that aren’t working for us. Your current habits affect every part of your life. Whether you want to quit overeating, start exercising, or stop negative thoughts and complaining; there are things you can do to make positive changes right now. We tend to focus solely on our bad habits, but it's much easier to make changes by focusing on positive habits we’d like to acquire than on bad ones we want to eliminate. So we will be focusing on how to learn new positive activities that after time will become automatic and so ingrained in your mind that it will become easy and require little effort. It's well documented that you can change your habits in 21 days. That’s how long it takes for them to become automatic and permanent. And actually, it only takes one minute to make a positive change in your life. That’s how long it takes to gain the knowledge that will help you make the new habit a reality. You do this all the time without even realizing it. How fast do you learn a new route to work and then make it a habit? How soon does it take to learn a new recipe and then cook it without thinking about it? How easy is it to learn a new computer skill and then use it automatically and effortlessly?
Changing Habits: The Easy Way Below are two of the most effective ways to reprogram your unconscious bad habits into automatic positive habits: - Hypnosis: It reprograms the unconscious mind where all behavior and learning take place.
- Knowledge: When you learn how to form a habit the right way you can take the necessary steps for creating new habits.
Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconcious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character. ~Stephen Covey
